The biggest new feature coming to Warzone with the release of Cold War will be cross-generation cross-play. Like the current Modern Warfare-related version of Warzone, Chapter 2 will include battle passes with free content and periodic free updates with new content that all players will have access to. The next chapter of Warzone will also include shared progression between Black Ops Cold War and Warzone, meaning that items earned in one can be used in the other. All of the progress Warzone players have already gained will carry over into Chapter 2 including all of the weapons and unlocks from Modern Warfare. Once Cold War is released later this year, Warzone will move into Chapter 2 and begin getting new Cold War-themed content. Instead, the standalone Call of Duty battle royale game will continue to get updates that closely tie-in with Cold War. But while Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War will be the next main entry in the series, Call of Duty: Warzone isn’t going anywhere. Treyarch has already revealed the first few details about the new Call of Duty game coming later this year.
